German IT security, convenient and secure
IT security doesn't have to be complicated, we all at heylogin agree on that. That's why we develop heylogin, the first password manager without a master password. It all started with our founders Dominik and Vincent. Both of them were involved in encryption during their research time and already worked on alternatives to the password. As security consultants they finally experienced the hard reality in their customers' daily business: insecure passwords on Post-Its or in Excel spreadsheets, everything freely shared and openly accessible without control for admins or management. That was the moment when the idea of heylogin was born.
Our latest milestones
Already more than 1100 organizations never looked back and make their company passwordless with heylogin. In the fall of 2022, Mozilla Ventures, the investor arm of the Firefox company, invested in our pre-seed round, along with German Business Angels.
Mozilla Ventures is an important partner for another reason: as developers and security experts, an open Internet is particularly important to us, so our company values are strongly based on the Mozilla Manifesto.
Our team
Our team works every day to make heylogin even better. Not only is everyone on a first-name basis, problems and ideas are discussed over coffee instead of being swept under the table. Our founders
Our founder Dominik did his PhD in IT security and worked as a lecturer and security researcher at TU Braunschweig for a long time before he founded heylogin together with Vincent. During this time:
- he published 15 scientific papers on usable security and applied cryptography
- conducted usability studies with more than 1000 participants
- was Google Summer of Code Manager for 3 years
- was Maintainer of OpenKeychain, the most widely used Android app for PGP encryption.
Besides his scientific work, he also found and reported several security vulnerabilities in the apps Telegram, Signal, Gmail, and Flinkster, among others, in his spare time.
Vincent has gained a lot of practical experience in leading end-to-end encryption projects before co-founding with Dominik. Well-known projects from that time include:
- end-to-end encryption for K-9 Mail (> 5 million installations)
- end-to-end encryption for XING chat (16 million users)
- operator of the largest keyserver keys.openpgp.org
- co-founder of the Braunschweig hackerspace Stratum0
During this time he received funding from NLnet and the Open Technology Fund, among others.
